RACE REPORT #290 - Aug 21st 2021 (VS6075PRnm)

For our first "real" session since 10th April this year, we had a full masked and vaccinated group of five drivers come by on Saturday after lunch. These included O'Brie, Steve, Luke T, Keith and myself. As usual there were many cars to be tested and adjusted and this took up the majority of the session. It included Luke's brand new Ford Sierra prepared for our no-magnet (nm) Mod Prod class. Luke was able to make some minor improvements and they're a lot more to come!

Despite referring to it as a "real" session, we actually only ran a single race for our Vintage Sports 60-75 Prototype class. In keeping with the fact that the actual Le Mans race was in progress at the time, we decided to run it as a time-based race over 24 minutes and dubbed it "The 24 Minutes of FRC". Qualifying was done using the new format with all cars on track for a timed period (typically 3-5 minutes).

As always, everyone had a good time getting back into slots and we look forward to more frequent sessions in the future.

Congratulations to all drivers for completing the 24 minutes.

Next event's classes: The usual non-magnet cars across all eligible classes. I may in advance stipulate a few specific classes which we'll qualify and race.

Don't forget to see the updated overall fastest times and the fastest no-magnet times by driver and class to know what the benchmarks are for your cars and the updated fastest no-magnet times. Older stats can be found in the Archive area of the forum.

See you on the circuit...
Gordon

Great afternoon of slotcar action as usual at FRC. Nice for Luke and Keith to join the now more regular Gordon, O'Brie and myself. It was great to see Luke show up with a car that he's actually preparing for competition here. As expected, there are bugs to be worked out but the car has real potential. Although we only had one actual race, the other testing and spirited driving was as much fun, At times, several of us chose to drive cars of the same class and these times felt like actual races ! The '24 Minutes Of FRC' race was good fun with Gordon and his Ferrari being in a class by itself. O'Brie and I (Ford and Porsche respectively) had a race long battle for second place as did Keith and Luke (both Fords) for fourth place. Congrats to Gordon on his win !
Looking forward to the next event !

What a great time I had!!! Non Mag racing is so much mare intense !!! My biggest battle was with myself trying to keep a level of concentration that I had not had in a long time!!! Me and my "Goldfish" brain were exhausted when the evening was done. :D :D
Looking forward to more for sure!
